We are so excited to share Part 2 of Nash & Dani’s Engagement shoot. They wanted to get outside & explore some of the outer realms of San Francisco. Nash grew up in Sonora so he wanted to go somewhere that felt like home to him. We found a gorgeous forest up past the Presidio & it made a perfect backdrop to showcase their adoration for one another. Dani & Nash were game for a major adventure, so we decided to race the sun to Baker Beach where we made it just in time to capture some magical shots with the Golden Gate shimmering in the background. It was truly one of the most beautiful moments I have yet to be a part of & a perfect memory that Nash & Dani will have as a reminder to themselves & their family that they were able to call San Francisco home at the beginning of their lives together.

Nash & Dani are dear friends of ours who just happen to be getting married in June IN FRANCE. Yeah, I know. Jealous to the max right? If anyone can pull off a glamorous destination wedding, it’s these two & you will see what I mean in this amazing 2-part engagement session.

Living in San Francisco has always been a dream for these lovebirds. Both have jobs among the skyscrapers & it wasn’t only the convenience factor, but the attitude of “We will never get to do this again…why not now?” & that’s what I love about Nash & Dani. They face life with a reckless sort of abandon & you can tell they love each other in the same sort of manner. They hold nothing back & their passion for life, travel, food & each other is contagious. We just loved spending the day with these two. They invited us over for Mimosas & Lattes to start the day off right in their absolutely charming studio in Lower Nob Hill. We were able to capture just them living life together amidst the hustle & bustle of downtown Saturday afternoon. We then took a stroll to the most beautiful cathedral & explored some city streets. Chad & I have a unique family situation. When I married Chad, I became a wife & I also became a Step-Mama to his perfect little girl Isabelle. Now, obviously there is huge history behind that simple statement, but this post is not about that. This post is to actually celebrate her Mommy, Step-Daddy & the newest addition to their family: a new baby boy named Ethan.

Isabelle’s Mom’s name is Ashelee & you will probably hear me refer to her quite a bit on this blog. Ashelee is one of my dearest friends & I was blessed enough to be able to walk beside her in her pregnancy & was also able to be in the delivery room for Ethan’s birth. I will remember that moment for the for the rest of my life, not only because the miracle of birth was absolutely incredible, but because Ashelee, a woman who the world tells me is supposed to hate me, extended such grace & love towards me in allowing me to be a part of it. Our friendship in itself is a miracle & I am humbled by it on a daily basis.

This little guy holds a special place in my heart, especially because he is Isabelle’s little brother but also because he feels like he is my family too. Ethan is now 4 months old & I am just captivated by every little inch of him. He is the sweetest little boy which such a happy spirit. I cannot wait to be a part of his life as we watch him grow into a mini-version of Clint :]

It is with great anticipation that I get to share a few more portraits & details of Cameron & Kaitlyn’s wedding. You may remember these two from their sneak peek a few months back, but their wedding was one of the most beautiful days we have yet to be a part of. Kaitlyn is a DIY extraordinaire & literally transformed the campground across the street from her house in Northern California into a perfect wedding & reception location with the help of Cameron, her friends & family. It was such a joy to be a part of such a beautiful celebration of commitment & to top it off, we are thrilled that Style Me Pretty is featuring this today too! After Mitch’s, my brother, first year of college, he came home with grandiose stories of “the guys.” These stories filled our dinner conversations with laughter & soon I began feeling like these guys were a part of our family…one of these guys was Brad. He became one of my brother’s closest friends & with that closeness came a friendship with Brad’s high school sweetheart, Chelsey. Mitch would talk about how great Brad’s girlfriend was & that he knew they would be THAT couple to make it. During Christmas break their junior year of college, December 2010, Brad was in a snowboarding accident. He broke his neck in the absolute worst location & the doctors said it was a miracle Brad had even survived. As he was in surgery, Mitch & Chelsey drove hours & stayed in the hospital with Brad’s family. When I would talk to Mitch & get updates about Brad, I would hear the determination in Mitch’s voice the same way I heard it when he talked about Brad & Chelsey 2 years back…Mitch knew Brad would be THAT guy to make it through this & come out stronger. And he was right. Brad was put in a halo for 5 months & looking at him through this wedding post, you would never imagine that something so traumatic could have happened to him. I had so much respect for Brad before the accident & after I saw everything that he & Chelsey had been through, I was so impressed by their devotion to each other & selfless love they shared. When they asked Chad & I photograph their wedding, I just about cried because it was such an honor to be a part of the story of such a love.

I am so excited to share with your this sneak peek…the entire wedding was just gorgeous & the amount of handmade details will just make your jaw drop, but tonight, I just have time to share a couple of our favorite portrait shots from the day.

You may recognize this beautiful bride from a sneak peek we did a while back. Debrah is just a doll. She is kind, considerate & so sweet. She was very peaceful & so calm as she was getting ready. It was beautiful watching her prepare to marry Garrett as I saw the anticipation building but never once did she seem anxious. Deb was full of laughter & grace & it truly filled the room with joy. One of her bridesmaids was practicing a song that she was performing during the ceremony, so she brought her guitar & filled the room with her beautiful voice for the entire morning. It was truly one of the most reverent parts of the day.

Nothing is more special & precious than photographing people in love. It is a wonderful thing to be the photographer just capturing a couples’ sweet looks, knowing smiles & a need for each other they cannot hide. It is even more special when you consider the couple dear friends & that is the case with Tim & Amy. They both have incredible, servant hearts for youth ministry & lead teams to Haiti a few times a year. Amy just recently acquired a job at the high school I work at & we couldn’t be more excited to see them on a regular basis. This engagement shoot was done right before they got married last September. For this shoot, we explored the Briones National Park and got some incredible sunset shots. Happy (almost) 1-Year Anniversary, Arnett’s! We love you guys & are so thankful for your friendship.

Chad & I both went to high school with Miles & anyone who knew the guy knew that the girl that would end up with him was a lucky one. Miles is brilliant, athletic, compassionate & definitely the guy you at least had a week crush on at least once in your high school career. When Miles brought home Danielle, I think everyone knew this was it…this was the girl. Danielle has the most beautiful smile & an incredible laugh that fills a room. She has a warm demeanor that instantly makes you feel at home. Yet she has a quick sense of humor & a hilarious sass that makes her that much more irresistible. Together, Miles & Danielle are quite the pair and hanging out with them is always a fun time. For this engagement shoot, we took them to one of our favorite locations in Lafayette & explored the reservoir. The day was overcast & the water was perfectly still. We then enjoyed some lattes together at a favorite spot Downtown. These two were married in July & we can’t wait to share their wedding photos soon :]

Welcome to the Custock Photography blog. We are so thrilled to finally have a little corner of the Internet to call our own. This blog has been in the works for quite some time & it is thrilling to say we now have a space to share what we are so passionate about.

“We” are Chad & Jenny Custock. We were married on 9.10.11 & are each other’s best friends…and we could not imagine working beside anyone else. We started our company about 4 years ago & have taken every opportunity since to find a story to share with our camera. Chad thrives in the science of the machine & his knowledge on gear is borderline obsessive…while Jenny is a forever Art Major & gets excited about light leaks & happy accidents. Together, a perfect team was born & yet, the further we got into the industry of photography, the more we realized what made us both equally excited & what made the job truly worthwhile – YOU. The relationships we have gotten to build in this business are unlike anything we have ever experienced before. We have met some of the most amazing people & have had the privilege of being beside them on some of the most important moments of their life. It is beyond humbling & getting hired as a photographer is more than just a gig…it is an honor.

We are so excited to introduce you to this blog where we will share glimpses of recents shoots & stories of clients that have touched our lives…but this space is also more than that for us. It is a place for us to document our life together in photos that may have just sat on our hard drives forever. This could be random underwater shots from a vacation, iPhone pics from a Costco date night, or an Instagram montage of little in-between moments that mean something to us because it is just that…US. We also plan on sharing things that are currently inspiring us, helpful things we learn along the way & anything else that comes with living a creative life. We are just grateful to have this space to serve as a voice in the blogosphere & a means to connect with other creatives & potential clients.
